About Habitat for Humanity of Berkeley County
Habitat for Humanity of Berkeley County is a a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian ministry founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live.
We are an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, an organization founded in 1976 that has helped to build or repair over 600,000 decent, affordable houses, serving more than 3 million people worldwide.
Habitat offers a true partnership arrangement by which Berkeley County families with limited income can attain their goal of home ownership. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.
Update: March 23rd, 2013 HFH of Berkeley Dedicated its 26th home built for the partner family of Kristin Dahl. Watch for pictures.
