Habitat for Humanity of Berkeley County works with many community and national partners. Volunteers help build Habitat homes, making our homeownership program possible. Without the help of our partners, we could not build and sell affordable houses in Berkeley County. Likewise, when applicants are approved/selected for our Homeownership program, we treat them as our partners. We are committed to working in partnership with our homebuyers in order to make their dream of homeownership a reality.

At Berkeley Habitat, our mission to create safe, affordable housing wouldn't be possible without the unwavering support of our community. One standout partner who has been with us every step of the way is the First Presbyterian Church of Moncks Corner. Their dedication and generosity have been instrumental in helping us achieve our goals and make a real difference in the lives of those we serve.

Lakisha, a determined single mom, and her three amazing kids are on a journey towards a brighter and better future. Balancing a full-time job to provide for her family, Lakisha is a powerhouse! She has a 16-year-old son, a 14-year-old daughter, and a lively 5-year-old daughter, each bringing their own spark to the family dynamic. Together, the Taylors have faced challenges head-on in their quest for stability. Back in 2017, Lakisha made the brave decision to leave an unhealthy situation in Georgia and moved to Berkeley County to be closer to family. By 2018, she secured a 2-bedroom apartment. Though cozy, the space has its limits, offering no storage and posing safety concerns due to a volatile neighborhood nearby. Despite these hurdles, the Taylor family has remained steadfast, yearning for a safe, spacious, and affordable haven to call their own. Their resilience and hope led them to Habitat for Humanity. With the generous support of Habitat’s volunteers and donors, the Taylor family’s dream of a safe and affordable home is now within reach! Surrounded by a supportive community, they're ready to break free from their cramped living situation and step into a world full of promise and possibility. "I'm just grateful to be in the program and to go through this process," Lakisha shares. "I am learning a lot. I'm just happy that my children will get their own space."
